The NFL's 10th week will conclude tonight with a Monday Night Football matchup between the Miami Dolphins and Carolina Panthers. While there could be another strong quarterback performance there, we're gonna run down the five best passing days so far this week.
Jared Goff tore up the opposing defense for the second straight week. Kirk Cousins and Case Keenum both had solid days through the air in a 38-30 shootout in Washington. Even as his Giants fell to 1-8, Eli Manning didn't have a bad day in San Fransisco.
But which five quarterbacks had the most impressive performances?
5. Matthew Stafford
17-26, 249 Yards
3 TD, 1 INT
65.4% completion, 118.9 rating
Things didn't look great early against the Cleveland Browns, as Stafford and the Detroit Lions quickly fell in a 10-0 hole to the winless team. The Lions would outscore the Browns 38-14 after that point, largely behind the throwing arm of Matthew Stafford.
Stafford had the 4th highest quarterback rating of any starting QB this week, thanks to three touchdowns compared to just one interception.
Many Lions fans would've liked to see their team struggle a little less against the winless Browns. But it's a long game of football, and despite early troubles, Stafford bouncing back was instrumental in the Lions win to improve to 5-4.
4. Case Keenum
21-29, 304 Yards
4 TD, 2 INT
72.4% completion, 117.0 rating
Minnesota Vikings quarterback Case Keenum has continued to be one the most unexpected stories in the NFL, guiding the Vikings to a 7-2 record after a win over the Washington Redksins on Sunday.
Keenum could've had one of the best performances of the week, with his 4 passing touchdowns, but the two interceptions he threw puts him slightly lower on this list.
With only seven incomplete passes on 29 attempts, Keenum stepped up to the challenge and helped Minnesota put 38 points on the board, enough to hold on for the Vikings 5th straight victory.
3. C.J. Beathard
19-25, 288 Yards
2 TD, 1 INT
76.0% completion, 123.4 rating
In just his 5th career start, San Francisco 49ers QB C.J. Beathard had a DAY against the New York Giants. Though there were questions of defensive effort, Beathard still dismantled the once vaunted New York Pass Defense.
With only six incompletions, Beathard earned the third-highest rating of any starting quarterback in Week 10. He also completed an extremely efficient 76% of his pass attempts. Before this week, his career high was just 57.9%.
Beathard's big day led the 49ers to the first win of the season, and while it may not improve their draft odds, San Francisco players were fired up after the home win.
If it wasn't for an 83-yard pass to Marquise Goodwin, Beathard may not have had such an impressive day, with just over 200 yards on his other 24 attempts. But it happened, and Beathard made plays throughout the game to lead the 49ers to victory.
2. Tom Brady
25-34, 266 Yards
3 TD, 0 INT
73.5% completion, 125.4 rating
To be honest, I would've loved to put some great young quarterback performances like Keenum and Beathard ahead of Tom Brady. In his 18th NFL season, we've all become accustomed to Brady's greatness on a weekly basis.
But playing a turnover free game with the second highest quarterback rating of the week earned Brady this spot over them.
Defense was supposed to be Denver's saving grace with a shaky offense, but Brady had his way with Broncos defenders on Sunday night. Brady may have put up even more numbers if the Patriots weren't up so much: Brian Hoyer got some snaps in the fourth quarter.
While 266 yards doesn't exactly jump off the stat sheet, his 7.82 yards per pass attempt were his 2nd-most since Week 3, and his quarterback rating was the highest since that same Week 3 matchup with the Houston Texans.
1. Jared Goff
25-37, 355 Yards
3 TD, 0 INT
67.6% completion, 125.4 rating
A week after tearing the Giants apart, 51-17, Jared Goff and the Los Angeles Rams went right back to work against the Houston Texans. Houston actually took an early 7-6 lead, but it was all Rams after that as they scored 27 straight points en route to their 5th straight win.
Goff was one of only three QB's to pass for 300 yards this week, but the only one to do so without throwing an interception.
Goff did most of his damage, including all his scoring, in the third quarter. One of the three scores was a 94-yard connection with Robert Woods, which really jumpstarted Goff's yardage total.
