NFL Week 7 Picks

In Week 6, the Los Angeles Rams stayed undefeated, the New England Patriots handed the Kansas City Chiefs their first loss, and the Dallas Cowboys blew out the Jacksonville Jaguars. Week 7 sees more important matchups on the field. The Chiefs have another test, against a strong 4-2 Cincinnati Bengals team. The New York Jets can stay in the AFC East win with a third straight home win, but a hot Minnesota Vikings team comes to town this week. And the Jaguars need to get back on track, as a loss to the Houston Texans would put them behind in the AFC South. Week 5 was my strongest picks week of the season (9-6) but I improved again in Week 6, going 11-4. This brings my season total to 50-41-2 Thursday Night Denver Broncos (2-4) at Arizona Cardinals (1-5) The Cardinals are 1-1 over the past two weeks, showing signs of life in both games. The Broncos are winless on the road this season, and are on a four-game losing streak. Signs point in Arizona's favor. Then why is D...

NFL Week 2 Picks and Week 1 Recap

The 2018-2019 NFL season is underway, and through one week we've seen the usual contenders, some hot rookies, some disappointing team performances, and an incredible primetime comeback from Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers. Before looking to Week 2, let's see how I made out in Week 1: I still need to get my NFL record predictions out, but I work all day 😥For tonight’s game though, I’m locking in my pick of #Eagles over #Falcons . — Sak Sports Blog (@SakSports) September 6, 2018 While I didn't predict a score here, the Eagles ultimately won this Thursday night slugfest 18-12 behind two touchdowns from Jay Ajayi. 1-0 #Ravens 24 #Bills 9 Buffalo struggles in the season opener while Joe Flacco and company start off a productive year — Sak Sports Blog (@SakSports) September 9, 2018 The Ravens won and the Bills offense definitely struggled. I correctly predicted no Buffalo touchdowns, but they only mustered three points in an abysmal quarterback ...

Should the New York Jets Build Around Kirk Cousins?

The position of New York Jets starting quarterback has been a wild ride over the last ten years, going everywhere from Brett Favre to Mark Sanchez, and most recently Ryan Fitzpatrick and Josh McCown. They have Bryce Petty and Christian Hackenberg on the roster, but neither has impressed the organization enough to earn a legitimate starting situation. After a promising 3-2 start, the Jets finished last in the AFC East at 5-11 last season. But even with this abysmal record, there were many games the Jets were in until the very end. Towards the middle of the season, New York gained an unfortunate habit of building up a first-half lead and blowing in by the fourth quarter, such as they did against the New England Patriots. The point being, while the roster still needs talent upgrades all around, they still aren't far off, and a consistent, Pro Bowl-caliber quarterback could easily have flipped that 5-11 record into a 9-7 team right in the Wildcard race. But is Kirk...

Potential Landing Spots if Eli Manning Left Giants

Eli Manning has only played for the New York Giants in his career, leading them to two Super Bowls. While rumors have swirled around his future in New York with the Giants struggling, Manning does have a no-trade clause. Still under contract along with Odell Beckham Jr, Manning will likely be back with Big Blue next year. But if the two sides decide it's time to part ways? At 1-7, the Giants could draft a quarterback in next year's draft and hit the reset button. If Manning complied, he could finish his career with another team, perhaps with a shot at one last title. Again, I think there's an overwhelming chance Manning is still the starting quarterback for the Giants in 2018. But if he were to move on, where could he go? What teams would take the veteran quarterback for his last NFL years? Jacksonville Jaguars I actually already wrote about the hypothetical idea of the Jaguars trading for Manning earlier this season.  The obvious connection is his fo...

Jets and Bills Clash at MetLife Stadium on Thursday Night Football

The New York Jets will host the Buffalo Bills in the teams second and final meeting this season. The matchup kicks off Week 9 of the NFL season, taking place Thursday night at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.  The teams will both don their color rush uniforms, as they did in a similar Thursday night at MetLife setting a couple years back. GAME DETAILS Buffalo Bills (5-2) at New York Jets (3-5) Line: Bills (-3.5) Time: 8:25 PM ET Location: MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, NJ At a surprising 5-2, the Bills have a chance to force a tie with the New England Patriots, who are on a bye this week, for first place in the AFC East. Buffalo already leads the AFC Wildcard pack, so their 6th win of the season would bode very well for their playoff chances moving forward. The Jets also started the season as a pleasant surprise at 3-2. But since then, they've dropped three straight games where they've held a lead and blew it in the second half. A lo...
